Keep Shropshire Warm Update – Winter 2020/21
Shropshire Council is urging residents who are struggling to stay warm at home and those that are concerned about winter fuel bills to contact the Keep Shropshire Warm team for support this winter. The Council’s energy advice service has continued to support residents throughout the pandemic, offering advice and support on a range of topics ranging from energy bills and tariffs to grants for heating and insulation.
Parish Councils are invited to a (virtual) meeting of the Shropshire Affordable Warmth Network on Wednesday 25th November to find out more about the scheme, the support on offer this winter and details on how to refer local residents for support (an invite with further details is attached).
We’re also asking Parish Council’s to help spread the word about the help on offer, through what is expected to be a tricky winter for many. The attached advert is available to be used on social media channels and webpages as appropriate. The Keep Shropshire Warm Facebook page (@KeepShropshireWarm) is also worth a follow, as articles and news will be posted throughout the year.
In addition, fully funded first time central heating grants remain available for urban and rural households who are struggling without existing central heating. We’re encouraging households relying on old electric storage heaters, gas fires and solid fuel heating systems to get in touch today. The attached case study shares the story of Claire, a nurse from Shrewsbury who received grant funded works earlier this year.
We hope you find the above helpful and please feel free to share this information as appropriate. Thank you for your support.
